Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was hired as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. The reporting she did included plenty of significant stories, including the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms in addition to the arms control. She traveled extensively along with the president Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
